Division of Areas

A. The following fields are designated as Areas of Specialization:

B. For purposes of preparing reading lists for graduate students, a "core" list in each of the above areas will be prepared by the Methodology Field Committee, and updated periodically. Additional reading lists will be defined by the candidate's examination committee, consistent with the particular areas of specialization selected by the candidate.

Field Requirements

A. All students choosing Methodology as a major field must complete Maximum Likelihood and four additional seminars (or seminar equivalents) beyond the Political Science Core and Linear Models.

B. All students choosing Methodology as a first-minor (exam) field must complete Maximum Likelihood and two additional seminars (or seminar equivalents) beyond the Political Science Core and Linear Models.

C. All students choosing Methodology as a second-minor exam (non-exam) field must complete Linear Models and two additional seminars (or seminar equivalents) beyond the Political Science Core.

D. Any seminar or course from outside the Political Science Department must be approved by the Methodology Committee.
